We built this site to need as little of your data as possible. This page describes what is collected and why.

- No cookies are set for visitors, and there is no cookie banner because none is needed.
- Analytics are aggregate and cookieless.
- We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
- We do not have user accounts, comments or newsletters.
What is collected
Aggregate analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. It works without cookies and without storing identifiers on your device. We see counts, not people.
Retailer link clicks
When you click a retailer button, our server records which link was clicked, which guide it appeared on, and the time. We do not store your IP address, browser details or any other identifier alongside that record.
Hosting logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (such as requested URLs and status codes) to operate the service and protect it from abuse. These are governed by the provider’s own privacy terms and are not used by us to identify visitors.
If you email us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to respond and resolve the issue.
Staff login
The editorial admin area uses an authentication cookie for signed-in staff only. Visitors to the public site never receive it.
Third-party sites
Retailer buttons take you to other companies’ websites. Once there, their privacy policies apply, including any tracking they use to attribute a purchase to our affiliate link. See our affiliate disclosure.
Children
Many guides are about gifts for children, but the site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and rights
Because we hold almost no personal data, there is usually nothing to access or delete. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence removed, or you have any other request under the privacy law that applies to you, contact us at hello@giftwiselist.org.
Changes
If the way the site works changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
