What you may do
- Link to any page. No permission is needed, and we would rather you linked than copied.
- Quote a short passage (a sentence or two) for commentary, criticism or news, with a credit and a link to the page it came from.
- Print or save a guide for your own personal, non-commercial use.
What you may not do without written permission
- Republish a guide, or a substantial part of one, on another website, app, newsletter or print product.
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site’s content, including for training machine-learning models.
- Reuse our product write-ups in a retailer listing, marketplace or advertisement.
- Present our content as your own or remove attribution.

Third-party material
Product names, brand names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify the products being discussed. Any product photographs shown on the site are either our own, licensed, or used with the manufacturer’s permission; we do not copy images from retailer listings. If you believe an image or passage is used without the right to do so, please tell us using the notice procedure below.
Reporting copyright infringement
We respect the intellectual property of others and respond to notices that comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws. If you believe material on giftwiselist.org infringes a copyright you own or represent, email hello@giftwiselist.org with the subject line “Copyright notice” and include:
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed (or a representative list if there are several).
- The exact URL on our site of the material you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We aim to acknowledge complete notices within a few business days and, where the notice is valid, to remove or disable access to the material promptly. Incomplete notices may be returned for more information. Please note that under section 512(f) of the DMCA a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages.
Counter-notice
If material you contributed was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address containing your contact details, identification of the removed material and its former URL, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and that you will accept service from the person who filed the original notice, and your signature. Because GiftWiseList publishes only its own editorial content and hosts no user uploads, counter-notices are rarely relevant, but the route exists.
Repeat infringement
We do not host user-generated content, so there are no user accounts to terminate. Should that change, this page will be updated with a repeat-infringer policy.
Trademarks
“GiftWiseList” and the site’s wordmark are used to identify this site. Do not use them in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation. Other trademarks on the site are the property of their respective owners.
