The short version
- GiftWiseList sets no cookies of its own: none for tracking, preferences, advertising or log-ins.
- We do not store anything in your browser (no local storage, no fingerprinting).
- Because no consent is needed, there is no consent banner to dismiss.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, usually so it can recognise you on your next visit. Cookies are commonly used for log-ins, remembering settings, measuring traffic and targeting advertising. This site has no log-ins or settings to remember and does not run targeted advertising, so it has no use for them.
Analytics without cookies
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit which pages. It counts page views using a short-lived hash that is generated on the server from the request and is discarded the same day; it does not set cookies, does not store anything on your device and does not follow you across other websites. We see totals, not individuals. Details are in the privacy policy.
Cookies set by other sites
When you click a “Check price” button you leave this site and land on the retailer’s page. The retailer may set its own cookies, including one that records that you arrived through our affiliate link so that a purchase can be credited to us. Those cookies belong to the retailer and are governed by its cookie and privacy policies, which you can read on its site. Our affiliate disclosure explains the arrangement.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies through its settings, and most offer a private or incognito mode that discards cookies when the window closes. Blocking cookies will not affect anything on GiftWiseList, since we do not rely on them.
If this ever changes
If we add a feature that needs cookies or similar storage, for example third-party advertising, we will update this page and the privacy policy before it goes live, and we will ask for consent where the law requires it.
